Alan Carlsson has provided technical leadership within Canada’s high-performance sport system for 25 years and has been working with Triathlon Canada since 2010. As a core member of the high-performance program, Alan works closely with the high-performance director and influences all facets of the high-performance program; from managing ITU elite athlete entries, data collection, performance analysis and system alignment. Over the years, Alan has served in a number of roles within the organization. He was instrumental in launching Canada’s paratriathlon program as the original head coach; designing and leading Triathlon Canada’s Gold Medal Profile and associated talent development strategy; and, as coach with World Triathlon, World Championships and World Cup athletes.
Alan has post-graduate academic training in exercise physiology, biomechanics and biostatistics, and is an NCCP chartered professional coach and coach developer in triathlon and canoe-kayak. Prior to joining Triathlon Canada, he worked with athletes and coaches representing Canoe-Kayak Canada, Cycling Canada, Cross Country Canada and the Canadian Blind Sports Association.
