Hand Wrapping for Training for Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA and K1 Kickboxing.
A brief introduction into some of the common way of wrapping your hands for training.
The main parts of the hands that are primarily protected are the wrist, knuckles, metacarpals and thumbs.
Wraps can be customised and adjusted with more protection on certain areas and less on others due to personal preference or injury to certain parts of the hands ie, the knuckles.
Most commonly used for training wraps are the cotton / nylon style with a Velcro strap to bind it together.
Sometimes pro fighters will use medical gauze and zinc oxide tape which are undoubtedly the best fit and feel for protection but.....
For training this is definitely not cost or time effective!
Ultimately wrapping hands is a necessary precaution when undertaking and combat sports , so get practicing ASAP as there will be a trial and error period and only making mistakes through experience will help you find your perfect wrap.
